MAIN and GRACE-GALLERY are collaborating to present MIRRORFACE, a solo exhibition by photo-artist Angela Fama. MIRRORFACE is a series of 12 double portraits that will be exhibited simultaneously in the two galleries on Main Street. These diptychs alternate between a direct passport-style photo to a candid image captured while checking one’s appearance in the mirror one last time. Here a private, personal expression is documented, offering an intimate glimpse of 12 individuals. The subjects documented are an equal number of both male and female, predominantly peers and friends, most of which Fama has made through her time spent in Vancouver’s Main St. area. Fama has exhibited in several group shows including Photo Mission: Three Stories at the Elliott Louis Gallery (2007) and 440hz Electromagnetic Explorations (2007), a Canada Council-funded project. She is also lead singer of alt-country band Eldorado, a commercial photographer and recent winner of Flash Forward – Emerging Photographers, Magenta Foundation (2009).
